Courtesy Desk

Our Courtesy Desk staff deliver excellent service to all members, guests, and program participants.  Responds to member and guest needs, promotes memberships and programs, and maintains cleanliness and organization of the lobby area.

 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

  1. Provides excellent service to members, guests, and program participants in the Y and on the phone, contributing to member retention.
  2. Conduct interviews and/or tours responsive to the needs of prospective members; sells memberships.
  3. Builds relationships with members; helps members connect with one another and the YMCA.
  4. Handles and resolves membership concerns and informs supervisor of unusual situations or unresolved issues.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Excellent interpersonal and problem solving skills.
  2. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community
  3. Previous customer service, sales or related experience is preferred but not required.
  4. Basic knowledge of computers.

Childwatch

Our Childwatch staff deliver excellent service to all members, both parents and chilren.  Responds to children's needs, promotes memberships and programs, and maintains cleanliness and organization of the Childwatch room.

 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

  1. Friendliness - maintains a positive attitude towards others, acknowledges the presence of others with a greeting, and is alert to the mood and needs of others.
  2. Punctuality - arrives at work prepared and ready to greet members and children. 
  3. Presentability - is poised, well-mannered, neatly and appropriately dressed, well-groomed, and clean.
  4. Energy Level - active and energetic, maintains an evident interest in the job.
  5. Orderliness - keeps materials, supplies, and equipment well organized to present an attractive, orderly, and inviting appearance to the room or any other area being used.
  6. Flexibility - is able to work with both individuals and groups of children with equal skill.
  7. Personal Manner - bends to eye level frequently when talking with a child; is able to help each child build self-esteem and healthy self-concept.
  8. Professionalism - uses appropriate language, and relates behavior to growth and development.
  9. Discipline - uses non-punitive methods of discipline, and offers guidance in a positive manner.
  10. Tolerance - treats all children equally, with respect and empathy. Avoids prejudicial attitudes.
  11. Patience - maintains self-control in dealing with others. 

Personal Trainers

We are looking for an individual who holds a current Personal Training certification who is committed to a healthy lifestyle and has a passion for health, fitness and making a difference in people's lives. 

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Personal Trainer follows the YMCA of the USA, Health and Fitness guidelines and is responsible for planning and leading a range of individualized or group exercise/activity sessions for clients in a fitness specialty area. The trainer performs a variety of fitness programs that are both educational and motivational. The trainer provides customer service which promotes member wellness in accordance with the YMCA policies and procedures and creates a safe, enjoyable, and positive environment.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Personal Training Certification
  • CPR/First Aid certification is preferred.

AfterSchool Youth Mentor: Part-time Hourly

Responsible for providing an appropriately safe, caring, and enriching environment for the children enrolled in the YMCA After School Program. Counselors are responsible for conducting themselves in an appropriate manner, setting an example for children, parents and co- workers by reflecting the YMCA core values of caring, honesty, respect, responsibility, and faith.

QUALIFICATIONS:
The right candidate is:

  • Great with (and responsible around) kids

  • Warm, friendly, and open

  • Multitasking-oriented

  • At least 16 years old

 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

  • Work in a team environment and encourage open communication regarding concerns/issues with children, parents or co-workers

  • Work scheduled shifts and communicate expected absences to site supervisor in a timely manner

  • Practice open communication and respond to all forms of communication

  • Initiate and maintain positive relationships with Tri-County YMCA staff & school staff including principal, secretaries, custodial staff and teachers of key importance to the after school programs

  • Assist in maintaining clean-up schedules; including janitorial duties necessary to maintain the cleanliness of the Tri-County YMCA & school facility

  • Maintain accurate documentation of attendance, absences and emergency information on each child

  • Maintain all supplies, equipment and materials; inform the site supervisor when new/additional supplies are needed

  • Ensure that all staff and children are respectful of school property; ensure all school rules are followed

  • Attend staff meetings as scheduled

  • Follow Praesidium child safety guidelines

  • Consistently demonstrate positive interaction with all children; talk to them and treat them with dignity and respect

  • Consistently demonstrate positive discipline; teach and redirect rather than scolding or reprimanding hem; firmly and consistently enforce the rules

  • Express clear expectations and hold children accountable for adhering to them

  • Help children to develop a positive self-esteem and sense of self-worth

  • Consistently demonstrate and reinforce the values of caring, respect, honesty, and responsibility

  • Will actively engage in activities with children including: snack, physical activity, Homework and other planned activities

  • Lead and supervise children
